PRA Statement on Oklahoma House Passing S.B. 889
Today, PatientRightsAdvocate.org (PRA) applauded the bipartisan passage of Senate Bill 889 by the Oklahoma House of Representatives (51-38). The bill was previously passed unanimously on March 24, 2025, by the Oklahoma Senate, where it will soon be returned for a final vote of concurrence.
"Real price transparency for healthcare consumers is one step closer to reality in Oklahoma! We are very encouraged that both houses of the Oklahoma Legislature have now passed S.B. 889 to codify President Trump's federal rule into law and arm the state with the proper enforcement powers to make all hospitals comply. If enacted, this bipartisan bill would empower Oklahoma patients with actual prices to protect themselves from hospital overcharges and would allow for a functional healthcare marketplace to flourish and lower costs for every Oklahoma household. We urge lawmakers to finish the job and send the legislation to the Governor's desk without delay."
