PatientsRightsAdvocate.org Submits Transparency in Coverage Comment Letter
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a proposed rule updating the Transparency in Coverage (TiC) requirements, under which health insurers must publish all of their negotiated rates.
Cynthia Fisher, Founder and Chair of PatientRightsAdvocate.org, submitted a public comment to CMS commending the progress CMS has made and urged the agency to further strengthen the rule.
In the February 23rd letter, Cynthia Fisher underscored:
"Robust, actual, and complete price transparency is essential to lowering healthcare costs, protecting patients from unexpected and inaccurate medical bills, and strengthening accountability across the healthcare system. Clear, enforceable pricing standards help to deter fraud, promote fair competition, and advance total billing integrity throughout the market."
